The OSU Marching Band, Ozzie & Harriet & The Columbus Symphony Orchestra

Ah what a beautiful morning on my front porch, the leaves are falling, a nice gentle breeze. Time to relax, sit back and reflect on the year. WAIT! REFLECT? Not now!! Next Saturday, me & my Danger band mates are going to walk in to the shoe and play the half time show with the O.S.U. Marching Band!! No time to reflect!! Truly the highest honor... we are so excited. On the 11th floor of The Holiday Inn On The Lane, while Bob Conners was on the air, Coach Earl Bruce had us in a semi circle, and gave us the freshman pep talk, telling us what to do when we walk into the shoe for the first time. It was an awesome talk..got us pumped!! Rehearsals begin this week, can't wait. We should be able to rock the shoe!!

Hiney Gate was, of course, quite memorable. Had some old friends stop by, Bill Lutz, long time percussionist with the excellent Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Bill and I are both big fans of The Champ Car World Series, and have spent some good times at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course watching the races. His friend Phil Shipley, Principle Percussionist with the Columbus Symphony is another old friend who played with the Danger Brothers years ago, a story I will tell sometime.

Another long time Hiney Gater, Eric Place, came by and said hi. Years ago Eric & Chris Lucas, both of Delphos Ohio, had an Indy lights time. For two years they carried the Danger Brother logo on their cars driven by Geoff & Andy Boss. Eric informed of their new team, Immke Racing, which races in off road races. Currently they are testing for the BAJA 1000. Check them out... nice people! http://www.immkeracing.com/

Also in the crowd, was the Gunner Nelson, son of the GREAT Ricky Nelson. As a child I so well remember watching Ozzie & Harriet, I was to young to follow the plot, but waiting for the end of the show because sometimes at the end, Ricky would have a concert of a new song. It was so cool to see, drums guitars, amps, all the stuff I wanted to be around. Well, unfortunately, we never got to talk to Gunner, although we got him on stage, we didn't have time to rehearse a song. We could have if we had connected on the break. The Dangers doing a Ricky Nelson song has been close to the top of the list. He was a very talented musician, and we are big fans.

In the small world, I had forgotten that my sister, who is in entertainment finance in Los Angles, has worked with the Nelson Twins for a long time. She was also in one of their music videos. http://www.thenelsonbrothers.com/

Well, Go Bucks, see everyone at Hiney Gate, and even more in The Shoe!!

Bob Douglas, Tomato's & Texas!

The Buckeyes beat Texas!! Scores were brought to the stage as we played the Fredericktown Tomato festival, which kept us happy!! The good people at Fredericktown had the game projected on to a large screen on the side of a building, good thinking! We had fun at Freddy Town; it was nice to be back as the last time we played there was probably 1990 or so.

Another rock and roll weekend, up at 530AM on Friday to play on Bob Conner's morning show on 610WTVN. This tradition goes way back, and it always fun. I remember back in the 1980's Bill and me going up with the Late Sgt. Bob Douglas, 610's traffic reporter. We would play the fight song; with trumpet and snare drum; in the stations plane Yellow Bird. I miss Bob Douglas; he was a very nice person. As for the show, Bob had little good to say about us on the air, there's a surprise!!

What was exciting was playing Bill's new song for the Buckeyes called Let's Get Up. Little did we know the song was being recorded and is now available on the 610WTV site. How cool is that. Remember it was not recorded in a recording studio! Just a radio studio!!

Game day came and went and already first Hiney Gate is behind us and what a great crowd! Not only great but wild with Buckeye Enthusiasm!! How about those Buckeyes!! Captain Morgan and the Morganettes were there which certainly brought a smile to our faces, the Morganettes that is. Certainly a highlight of the day was 610 TVN's Munch coming up on stage with Buckeyes superstars Craig Krenzel & Dee Miller, wow was that cool. I must say, watching Krenzel throw the t-shirts out was a treat he threw like a pro!! A little later on in the show a young couple from Toledo came up on stage. Brandon McGilveray got down on one knee and asked Kellie Jakubowski to take his hand in marriage, to which she said YES!! Congratulations!!

Sunday we headed up to Erie Michigan to for our second visit to the St Joseph’s Festival. Lots of fun to be in 'enemy territory' and still have hiney gaters out in the crowd. This event has a huge crowd and a large dance floor, which is what we are all about!!
